The President and executive members of Association of Water Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP) visited COMEG head office at No. 9 Okemesi Crescent, off Twon Brass Street, Garki II, Abuja to felicitate with the new Registrar, Prof. Zacheus O. Opafunso, on his assumption of duty as the 3rd Registrar/CEO of the federal agency. During the interactive session, the AWDROP President, Mr. Michael Ale, chided the activities of unwholesome water-well drillers with the proliferation of boreholes in almost every nook and cranny of the nation. According to him, the Nigeria borehole industry has huge potentials which when properly harnessed, coupled with effective regulation from COMEG, will ensure an investment portfolio that will run into multi-billion naira project for the nation. He enjoined all hands to be on deck to help in supporting and strengthening COMEG’s code of conduct for professional practices in Nigeria (for both companies and personnel) through Technical and Financial Regulation as stipulated in COMEG's Act No. 40 of 1990. On behalf of their association, he promised to extend their hand(s) of fellowship to COMEG in building a formidable regulatory body in the Nigerian Extractive Industry.
